1. Principle

Eat The Iceberg uses no advertising cookie, no third-party tracker, no social network pixel and no external audience measurement tool. No third-party script is loaded in the pages.

All the mechanisms listed below are set by the site itself and are necessary for the service to work, or serve a strictly internal and aggregated usage measurement. None of them requires your prior consent, which is why no consent window is shown.

If a consent-requiring tracker were ever introduced, a choice mechanism (accept, reject, manage) would be put in place before anything is set, and this page would be updated.

2. Necessary cookies

eti_locale

• Set by: Eat The Iceberg.
• Purpose: remember the display language you chose (French or English).
• Duration: 1 year.
• Status: necessary, exempt from consent.

eti_guest

• Set by: Eat The Iceberg.
• Purpose: count the content viewed by a signed-out visitor in order to apply the reading limit before account creation. The cookie only contains a signed technical identifier, with no personal data.
• Duration: 30 days.
• Status: necessary for the service requested, exempt from consent.

Sign-in session

• Set by: the service's authentication system (Supabase), in the browser's local storage.
• Purpose: keep you signed in so your credentials are not requested on every page.
• Duration: until you sign out or the session expires.
• Status: necessary, exempt from consent.

Onboarding preview

• Set by: Eat The Iceberg, in the browser's session storage.
• Purpose: keep the progress of an onboarding preview while you browse.
• Duration: until the tab is closed.
• Status: necessary, exempt from consent.

raarrr_community_promo

• Set by: Eat The Iceberg, in the browser's local storage.
• Purpose: temporarily remember a member's choice to hide the RAARRR editorial recommendation in Community.
• Data: recommendation version and dismissal date only.
• Functional duration: 60 days after each dismissal; the recommendation then becomes eligible for display again.
• Status: interface preference, exempt from consent. No tracking and no data sent to RAARRR or any third party.

3. Internal usage measurement

eti_wall_origin

• Set by: Eat The Iceberg.
• Purpose: know, in aggregate, which page an invitation to create an account was followed from. The cookie only contains a signed origin and timestamp; it is cleared as soon as it is read and no statistic is attached to a person.
• Duration: 30 minutes.
• Status: strictly internal, first-party audience measurement, with no cross-referencing and no cross-site tracking, falling under the exemption applicable to this type of measurement.

4. Managing these mechanisms

You can delete cookies and browser storage at any time from your browser settings. Deleting the language cookie restores the default language; deleting the session signs you out; deleting the counting cookie resets the reading limit for signed-out visitors; deleting the RAARRR preference makes the recommendation eligible for display again.

This page is updated whenever the mechanisms in use change. The update date is shown at the top of the page.
